The IMHA serves nearly 800 homes in 10 neighborhoods each with a unique architectural setting in a wooded environment.  The IMHA is an advocate to city and county governments on issues that affect all of Inverness.

The Inverness Country Club course meanders between the neighborhoods with many homes having golf course views.  The course was renovated in 2006 at a cost exceeding one million dollars.  A new clubhouse was recently constructed and the tennis complex was expanded and enhanced.  A swimming complex is also part of the country club.

Recently the City of Hoover acquired 77 acres for the Inverness Nature Park.  Shelby County is presently planning a greenway through Inverness.  Both Shelby County and the City of Hoover built the Veterans Park at the Spain Park campus.
